Good Dogs

by Brian Asman

Good Dogs Brian Asman Blackstone Publishing, Inc. 2024 302 pages ISBN-13 (paperback) 979-8212630979 I most often find the idea of werewolves as pack animals living among us undetected to be a fairly tired cliche, often employed in an attempt to turn werewolves into romantic figures, the swoon-worthy, bared-chested object of paperback romance. Asman has no truck with that while at the same time crafting a story of werewolves that do indeed live undetected among us. There is nothing romantic about this pack. They are a motley group of disparate personalities, struggling to function as a unit, a found family tied together by their nature, but like many families, not especially fond of every member. When they are forced to relocate to what they hope is a safe haven, those bonds are tested to their limit. Bloody, violent, and remorseless, Good Dogs follows Delia and her family of lycanthropes from suburban San Diego to an abandoned desert town where a thing far more savage than they has laid claim to the land.
